There is a German word — Fingerspitzengefühl — for the sensitivity in one’s fingertips, the ability to feel nuance through touch. It is not a word commonly used in hardware manufacturing. Kärcher Design uses it anyway. The Studio Series is the reason why.

What Is the Kärcher Design Studio Series?

The Studio Series is Kärcher Design’s most considered door hardware range — a system built around the conviction that the handle of a door is not a commodity decision, but a design one.

It encompasses three distinct sub-lines, each offering a different level of customisation:

Studio One is the entry point — based on the Rhodos, one of Germany’s most recognised door handle silhouettes, Studio One brings the Studio Series aesthetic to a resolved, fully specified form. Available in Cosmos Black with Diamond Touch surface. No configuration required; everything has already been decided, and decided well.

Studio Select by Kärcher is the curated middle tier. Kärcher Design’s own team spent months selecting nine configurations from the near-infinite possibilities of the system — each one a demonstration of what the range is capable of when every variable is resolved by someone whose profession is hardware design. Architects and interior designers who prefer to work from a curated selection will find this the most efficient path to specification.

Studio Select by you is the full configuration system. Five independent decisions — rose, base, handle texture, cap, and spacer rings — each available in Satin Brass, Satin Stainless Steel, or Cosmos Black, with multiple sub-options within each. The result is a handle composed to your exact specification. Not selected. Composed.

All three sub-lines share the same German manufacturing standard, the same material quality, and the same design philosophy: that a door handle is touched hundreds of times a year, and deserves to be made accordingly.

The Three Studio Series Finishes Available in Malaysia

Kärcher Design Studio Series door handles Malaysia — three finish options available from KeysonAI.

The Studio Series is available in three finish families, each a distinct material statement.

Satin Brass (88) is the warmest of the three. A living finish — Satin Brass develops a patina with time and use, deepening slightly in character over years of contact. In Malaysian conditions, where humidity is a constant factor, Satin Brass performs best in air-conditioned interiors rather than exterior-facing hardware. It suits classical, contemporary-classical, and warm modern interiors — spaces with rich timber, marble, or textiles that benefit from the resonance of gold tone against natural material.

Cosmos Black (83) is the most architectural of the three. A PVD-coated finish with exceptional durability, Cosmos Black reads as deliberate authority in a space — the absence of warmth used as a design statement rather than a default. It performs exceptionally well in Malaysian air-conditioned interiors and is the most maintenance-free of the three finishes. In spaces with a strong contemporary or industrial vocabulary — exposed concrete, dark panel joinery, minimalist millwork — Cosmos Black is the specification that makes the hardware disappear into the architecture. And then reappear, the moment you touch it.

Satin Stainless Steel (71) is the most neutral and the most corrosion-resistant. For Malaysian projects with exterior-adjacent hardware — covered walkways, internal corridors with airflow, or coastal properties in Penang or Port Dickson — Satin Stainless Steel is the finish that requires the least maintenance over time. It suits Scandinavian, modern, and minimal interiors with precision and coolness as their aesthetic register.

How Studio Select by You Works — The Configuration Process

Studio Select by you is built around five configuration decisions. Each is independent. Each changes how the finished handle reads in the space it inhabits.

Rose — the mounting plate that sits against the door face. Available in Satin Brass (88), Satin Stainless Steel (71), or Cosmos Black (83). The rose anchors the handle to the door and is the largest visible surface at the point of installation.

Base — the collar connecting the rose to the handle body. Again, three colour options — and the first point at which contrast becomes a decision. A Cosmos Black handle body with a Satin Brass base introduces the first gold element without committing to a full-gold handle.

Handle texture — the surface of the grip itself. Four options, each with its own tactile and visual character:

  • Soft Touch — smooth across the full barrel. The most restrained surface; the handle recedes into the hand.
  • Diamond Touch — a cross-knurl grid, machine-cut into the surface. The most specified texture in the Studio Select range; favoured by architects for its tactile precision and by homeowners who understand that a handle is touched every day.
  • Linear Touch — parallel grooves running the length of the barrel. Architectural, directional, controlled.
  • Helix Touch — a diagonal knurl with visible movement. The most distinctive surface at distance.

Cap — the end cap at the tip of the handle. Available in Small, Medium, and Large in nine two-tone colour combinations. The cap is the detail that closes the handle visually — and, in the case of the Satin Brass cap on a Cosmos Black body, the detail that defines the entire composition.

Spacer rings — a ring or rings placed between the rose and the handle body. One, two, or three rings; in any of the three colours, matching or contrasting. The spacer ring is the most personal of the five decisions — it is the detail that distinguishes your configuration from every other Studio Select handle in Malaysia.

Each of these five decisions is yours. The result is a handle that has never existed before.

Why Architects and Interior Designers Specify Kärcher Design

Specification is a responsibility. When an architect or interior designer writes a hardware schedule, every item on it carries their name alongside the client’s project. The credibility of the hardware reflects on the credibility of the specification.

Kärcher Design earns that credibility on several grounds.

The Studio Series is ISO 9001 certified and carries the BS EN 1303 rating — the British and European standard for cylinder security and mechanical durability. For architects writing specifications for luxury residential projects, high-end condominiums, or gated community developments, these certifications are the documentation required to substantiate a material choice.

Every Studio Series handle is assembled by hand. The image above shows what this means in practice: white gloves, deliberate assembly, a precision inspection before any handle leaves the Kärcher Design factory in Germany. This is not a marketing claim. It is a manufacturing standard — visible in the tolerance of every machined surface, and in the consistency of every handle produced.

KeysonAI has supplied ironmongery to more than 30 completed developer projects in Malaysia, including projects with Sunway, YTL, and SP Setia. Our trade team understands the scheduling process, the lead times, and the documentation requirements of luxury residential specification in this market. Specification sheets, BS EN 1303 certification documentation, and sample sets are available on request.

Kärcher Design ER90 door handle matte black brushed gold Malaysia.

The ER90 is the handle around which the Studio Series was built. A straight barrel, a consistent diameter, a handle that sits across the full palm rather than tapering to a grip point. In the ER90B1 configuration — Cosmos Black Diamond Touch body, Satin Brass spacer ring and cap — it is the specification most associated with the Studio Series in Malaysia.

Kärcher Design Studio Series brushed gold end cap detail — available in Malaysia through KeysonAI.

The end cap — the circular disc at the tip of the handle — is lathe-turned. The concentric marks left by the tool path are visible at close range. They are not a flaw; they are evidence of the process. This is not a printed or plated surface. It is machined brass, finished by hand, and it will look this way in twenty years.

Most handles are never examined at this distance. The Studio Series is made to survive it.
